American Legion Legacy Scholarships
Legacy scholarships are needs-based scholarships that provide up to $20,000 aid annually for undergraduate or post-graduate college.
Eligibility: Children of U.S. military members who died while on active duty on or after Sept. 11, 2001, and children of post-9/11 veterans assigned a combined disability rating of 50% or greater by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Applicants must be high school seniors or high school graduates. Award recipients may re-apply annually up to 6 times. The application deadline is April.

Kengla Foundation Scholarships
Kengla is a foundation, managed by Post 24, which provides need based educational scholarships to students who reside in the city of Alexandria.
- $2,000 per year to qualified seniors attending Alexandria high schools who are entering college degree programs in science, mathematics, or engineering. Renewable up to four years as long as student attends college full-time and maintains a 3.0 average.
- $1,500 per year to qualified nursing students at Northern Virginia Community College.
Virginia Boys State/Virginia Girls State Programs
Virginia Boys and Girls State are week-long programs focused on governmental affairs held at a university. Participants must have completed their junior year of high school and have at least one semester of high school remaining to participate. Candidates for Virginia Boys/Girls State are selected through an interview process conducted by Post 24. Candidates are evaluated based on their leadership abilities, interest in government, service to others, and academics. Both programs are held during the week of June 16-22, 2019.
